From Randy McGinley: Criminal Court schedule for the week of July 27:

Superior Court: - Tuesday, July 28: Newton County criminal court with Judge Wynne presiding. - Wednesday, July 29: Walton County criminal court with Judge Ott presiding. - Both of these calendars will only address in custody matters via video conference with the jail. - Defense attorneys: Please contact the ADA assigned to your case by noon the day before court to let them know if you will be attending court remotely. Our ADAs will provide you the login credentials for the video conference link.

Magistrate Court: - Wednesday, July 29: Newton County preliminary hearings. Only handling in custody matters and spacing them out over three separate calendars, 8:30am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm to ensure social distancing guidelines are met. - Thursday, July 30: Walton County preliminary hearings. Only handling in custody matters. - Friday, July 31: Walton County specially set preliminary hearing for the State v. Tommy Webb, Jr.; Omar Marsh; Elicia Rivera for warrants related to the May 15, 2020 double homicide investigation in Social Circle. Both courthouses require masks and a health screening to enter. The IT departments will be streaming court into additional courtrooms so that the public may observe court while maintaining appropriate social distancing. On Tuesday June 2, 2020, Randy McGinley was sworn in as the Acting District Attorney of the Alcovy Judicial Circuit by Chief Judge John Ott. The Acting District Attorney serves Newton and Walton County with the same duties and responsibilities as the District Attorney.


Acting DA McGinley graduated from Georgia Tech in 2004 and the Mercer School of Law in 2011. Between obtaining his undergraduate degree and law degree, Randy owned his own real estate appraisal company.


Since starting with the Alcovy Circuit District Attorney’s Office, Randy has tried over 50 cases to verdict, including numerous murder cases, numerous crimes against children, gang crimes, and complex white collar crimes. He has taught and trained law enforcement at all agencies within the Circuit, members of the District Attorney’s Office, and prosecutors from all over the State of Georgia. As the former Chief Assistant District Attorney for over 3 years, Randy managed both offices and oversaw over 7000 cases that come into the offices every year.
